本製品は、「Waves」と呼ばれる新たなエンジンターン模様を彫刻した、Conway Stewart Doctor's Penの新バージョンです。最初の限定エディションDoctor's Penは2022年初頭に完売となり、再びDoctor's Penをとのご要望を数多くいただいていた医療従事者の皆様のために、この新モデルをデザインしました。
本バージョンも同じ特別な仕様をすべて備えています。キャップと胴軸はスターリングシルバー製で、100年近く前に作られながらも今なお完璧な状態で稼働する、本物のエンジンターン機を用いて彫刻が施されています。
新しい「Waves」模様は、光の中でペンを回すたびに輝きを放つ、まさに堂々たる一本に仕上げています。各ペンの胴軸にはBirmingham Assay Officeによる完全な英国ホールマークが刻印され、シルバーの純度を証明しています。
ペンのクリップはRod of Asclepiusをかたどっています。これは杖に蛇が巻き付いた意匠のシンボルで、ギリシャ神話において医術と癒しを司る神Asclepiusの名に由来します。数千年にわたり医療の象徴として用いられてきました。
キャップの端には「The Doctor's Pen – Made in England」の文字が彫刻され、英国製であることを証明しています。
シルバーの抗菌性
銀が強力な抗菌作用を持つことは、科学者の間で古くから知られています。銀イオンは細菌の細胞膜を貫通し、細胞の主要な構成要素と結合することで、細菌の増殖を防ぎます。銀は傷用の包帯や、菌の伝播を抑えるドアハンドルのコーティングなどにも広く用いられています。そのため、Doctor's Penをデザインするにあたり、銀を92.5%含むスターリングシルバーを素材に選ぶことは自然な選択でした。
